Play 2D games. Map app shortcuts.

A pocket-sized controller for compatible Switch and Android games, with a separate keyboard mode for shortcuts. A specialised companion, not a full-size PC gamepad.

Assessed, not hands-on tested. Based on manufacturer documentation and published independent experience. SIGNAL has not tested comfort, latency or durability.

WHY CONSIDER IT

Pocketable, with a second job.

  • Manufacturer-listed weight: 24.8g; 16 buttons.
  • Keyboard-mode button mapping through the iOS or Android Ultimate Software app.
  • Tom’s Guide reported using it for Windows and browser shortcuts after a week of setup and use.

KNOW THE LIMITS

Small means compromise.

  • No analogue sticks, vibration or motion sensing.
  • No XInput. Windows support is keyboard mode only, not standard PC-gamepad support.
  • Mobile-app setup is required for remapping. Some shortcut combinations were unavailable in Tom’s Guide’s tested app version; current behaviour is not independently verified.
  • Check the dimensions and your grip before buying; comfort for large hands or long sessions is untested by SIGNAL.

CONSIDER IF

Portability is the point.

You want a compact companion for compatible 2D games or a small shortcut remote, and are willing to configure keyboard mode.

SKIP IF

You need a conventional controller.

You want analogue sticks, rumble, a large grip or normal Windows gamepad support. Keep your existing controller if it already meets your needs.

How we assessed it

8BitDo documents the controls, dimensions and separate input modes. It lists Switch 2 support from system version 20.1.1. This is manufacturer compatibility information, not a SIGNAL test.

Anthony Spadafora’s Tom’s Guide account describes a week with the Micro and workarounds for keyboard mapping: its Others menu lacked the Windows key, while its Key combos menu lacked arrow keys. These are observations from that published test, not proof that every current app version has identical limits.

We have not measured latency, battery runtime, comfort, reliability or productivity gains. There is no promise that it will work with every game or shortcut.

Price, seller & alternatives

No live price, discount, seller, stock or delivery promise is asserted here. The submitted €25.94 snapshot was not independently reproducible. Check the exact blue variant, seller and checkout total on Amazon.

Compare a full-size controller for comfort and analogue controls. For shortcuts alone, try your existing keyboard bindings before buying another device. A dedicated macro pad may suit a fixed desk setup better; no comparative hands-on test is claimed.
