What to know
The T7 Shield connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2. Samsung advertises sequential reads up to 1,050 MB/s and writes up to 1,000 MB/s with a compatible host and cable; these are not SIGNAL measurements. Tom’s Hardware’s published 1TB tests found strong sustained writes. Actual performance depends on your device, connection and workload.
Consider if
You move large files between compatible computers or need an additional local backup copy, and the actual price compares well with alternatives.
Skip if
Your existing storage is sufficient, you need cheaper bulk capacity, or you specifically need higher throughput with a compatible faster interface.
10Gbps interface; slower ports limit speed. IP65 is a controlled-condition rating, not immersion protection. One external drive alone is not a complete backup strategy. Current price, seller and stock are not asserted.
Alternative: keep adequate storage you already own, compare an external hard drive for cheaper bulk capacity, or consider a faster compatible drive only if the workload justifies it.
